Tips for Wwoofers

Copy of Wwoof Host form with details for stay

MEGALONG FARM   We often have vacancies for people who want to exchange work for board.  The jobs include field work such as putting out feed for the animal,  care of their enclosures, lodge work in the guesthouse, such as the kitchen, rooms, gardening and general jobs in exchange for food and board and use of the horses.

The  Farm has a lot of animals that are friendly and  need a lot of attention from people who love animals. We are presently  endeavouring to establish a Permaculture garden that utilizes the waste from the animals into the gardens for the kitchen and this is an ongoing process requiring helpers

Location we are  located15 minutes from Blackheath. To see our location  click on the Google map Megalong Farm

Where you would stay at the venue

There is plenty to do in the area when you are not working,  we are just 20 min from all the attractions of Katoomba. There is a rainforest drive of 15 km or more to enjoy.

Work is varied and there is a daily routine which is easy to follow includes feeding animals,  gardens (weeding, watering, mulching, planting), building new gardens, light carpentry, fence mending, working in the lodge and kitchen.

Accommodation is a separate sleeping area complete with kitchen, shower, toilet, TV, with 5 rooms that each sleep 1person.

Length of Stay is one week to start and anything longer depends on work available, and what our schedule is like with  other wwoofers.

Work Agreement is generally an exchange of 4 hours of work per day, per person for accommodation and meals. Food supplies are provided, but cooking of meals is undertaken by yourself.  There is a list of menu items that we provide, but you can bring your own extras.

Confirm you will be coming to stay as quickly possible, as we get busy in the summer and we fill positions with whoever confirms first, not who calls first.

Things to do when not working include visiting Katoomba to see the 3 sisters, scenic railway, the giant staircase, local national parks for rock climbing, abseiling mountain biking, as well as horse riding  (above activities are done on your own time and at your own risk, non-work time is not covered by WWOOF insurance.)

No children. Mixed diet. No Smoking in buildings.Cash payment for work is not an option, please do not ask)

Getting Here: Blackheath can be reached by public transport . The Train
Service
.  runs from Sydney at Central Station regularly  If you do not have your own transportation we can pick you up at the bus or train station. We do offer a pick up service that co-incides with our guest transfers- generally am noon and early afternoon do not know the schedules, so please contact the above services to find out and then let us know
when you will be arriving.
