Contractor for Jackaroo Programme/Horse Riding

CONTRACTOR FOR JACKAROO /HORSE RIDING CENTRE

A major Horse Riding Centre is seeking expressions of interest for suitably qualified persons to operate their Jackaroo/Jillaroo Programme in their busy riding Centre .

Persons will need to have experience and proven ability to operate an existing profitable business. Responsibilities will include all aspects of delivery of riding based products and horse care.

Hours are variable and will include evening and some occasional weekend work and will only suit those who have an interest in horses and providing customers a good time on those horses.

Skills:

you should have good riding skills and the ability to lead a group
have basic knowledge of horse health and stable management
be physically fit, with plenty of stamina
have knowledge of health and safety requirements
have some clerical skills, including bookkeeping.
have to treat common horse ailments and/or assist a vet
taking telephone bookings and handling sales
working knowledge of relevant legislation and record keeping skills.
have relevant rural farm maintenance skills

The Centre has around 120 horses ranging from miniatures ponies through to large Clydesdales. The trail riding centre undertakes hourly, 1/2 day full day and adventure rides and our customers range from children through to corporate riders. The major proportion of our rides are adventures rides. the Jackaroo/Jillaroo programme offers a 5 day farm experience.

Applicants must be capable of undertaking general operations of the riding centre with an ability to look after guests and customers and their needs. Must be outgoing, enjoy working with people fastidious, well presented, roster includes occasional weekend. This is a rewarding and enjoyable position for people who enjoy the outdoors.

Experience required and must be able to demonstrate excellent horse handling skills.
Must be safety conscious, ability to instruct guests of all ages, plus overnight trips.
Riding program includes farm trail rides, half and all day outings.
Activities program includes campout, scenic river rides, cattle drives, bushwalking & touring area by 4WD.
Provide guest transportation, and perform other duties as directed.
Proficient knowledge of horses and veterinary medicine.
Must be able to treat any other common ailments.
Farrier skills would be helpful.
Riding on a daily basis, assisting staff as needed with transportation.
